Brand Experience

Launches, activations and events people walk into, feel and remember — the brand as a place rather than a message.

What this is

The part of a brand a person can stand inside. A launch, an activation, an event, a stand — anything where the brand stops being something you look at and becomes somewhere you are.

This is the discipline KHN’s positioning is built on: a brand is not a logo, it is a place people decide to stay in. Experience work is that sentence taken literally.

Why it is different from a campaign

A campaign asks for attention. An experience asks for time, which is a much larger request and a much larger return if it is honoured.

That changes what the work has to do. A film has a few seconds to make its point. A room has to keep making sense for as long as someone is in it, from several angles, at their pace rather than yours, while they are also talking to somebody. It has to work when it is crowded and when it is empty.

What the work involves

A narrative, not a theme. A theme decorates a space. A narrative gives it a sequence — what a person meets first, what that sets up, and what it earns.

A route. How someone arrives, where they hesitate, what pulls them further in, and where the natural pause is. Most of the failures in experience design are circulation problems wearing a creative costume.

Production reality. Load-in, sightlines, power, the fact that half the audience will see it from the side. These constraints belong in the concept, not in a panicked revision the week before.

A content plan made in advance. The audience in the room is the smaller half. Deciding beforehand what gets filmed, from where, and for what afterwards, is the difference between an event and an event that keeps working.

Status

This is an active capability and part of KHN’s founder-led practice. The case studies on this site currently document campaign, content and identity work; experience projects will be published here as clients confirm them, under the same rule as everything else — nothing goes up before the client agrees to it.

Common questions

Do you run the event on the day, or only design it?

Both are available, and they are priced separately. Concept and design can be handed to a client's own production team; where KHN runs production, it is stated as such in the engagement.

How far ahead do you need to start?

It depends on the venue and the scale, and it is the question we answer honestly in a first conversation rather than in advance on a web page. A launch with a fixed public date is a different planning problem to an activation that can move.

What happens to the event after the event?

The content plan is designed before the day, not improvised on it. An experience that only exists for the people in the room reaches a fraction of the audience it could.
