Which page was opened, and in which language. How long it was actually being read — counted only while the tab is in front of you, so a tab left open overnight is not recorded as a night of reading. How far down the page you scrolled. Which links and buttons were clicked. The width of your browser window. And the domain a visit arrived from — instagram.com or google.com, never the full address of the page you came from. If a link we published carries campaign tags, those are recorded too.

KHN's own measurement sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's storage. No IP addresses. No name, email or message unless you type one into the brief form yourself. No profile of you — not across a visit, not across days, not across other sites; there is no mechanism here that could build one. Nothing is sold, shared, or sent to an advertising network, because nothing is sent anywhere at all.

To count one person opening two pages as one visitor rather than two, the server needs some way to tell them apart. It mixes your IP address and browser details with a server secret and the current date, keeps only the short code that comes out, and discards the ingredients. The code cannot be turned back into them.

Because the date is one of those ingredients, the code is different tomorrow. Yesterday's visitors cannot be matched to today's. That is deliberate: it is what keeps the measurement useful without making it about you.

On the same server as the site itself, in the same hosting account KHN pays for. It is not sent to Google Analytics, to Meta, or to any advertising network.

That is partly a privacy decision and partly a practical one. A great deal of standard marketing tooling depends on services an Iranian visitor may not be able to reach, and a measurement that silently fails for the audience the site was built for is worse than no measurement at all.

What you type into the form on the contact page is emailed to ceo@khn.agency and also stored on the same server, so that a failed delivery cannot lose an enquiry. It is used to reply to you and for nothing else. Ask, and it is deleted.

Alongside the counting described above, this site uses Microsoft Clarity to record anonymised replays of how pages get used — where a cursor moved, what was clicked, how far a page was scrolled. It is read to find what is confusing, and for nothing else.

Clarity masks text as it records, and the brief form on the contact page is excluded from recording outright, so what you type there is never captured. Clarity does set its own cookies. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal it is not loaded at all.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, this site records nothing at all — no page view, no clicks, no timing. Blocking JavaScript, or blocking the request to /api/collect.php, has the same effect. The site works normally either way.
